Maintenance

The water is very hard in Cape Coral and the surrounding areas. When water is hard It can cause mineral buildup on the internal heater components. When these mineral deposits build up they can affect the performance of the water heater. The deposits are softened and removed by flushing the heater with a solution.

The manufacturer of the tankless water heater provides recommended directions for how often the heater should be flushed out. Being Plumbers in Cape Coral, FL, we have performed maintenance for many tankless water heaters. We can coordinate the periodic scheduling for your tankless water heater flushing if you like.

Flushing is performed for 30 to 45 minutes so with setup it typically takes about an hour and a half in all. If you need your unit maintained after your tankless water heater installation just let us know and we’ll be happy to get you on a schedule.. We recommend flushing your heater every 9 to 12 months and we can set you up on a schedule if you like.

Recirculating Pumps

Oftentimes customers will add a recirculating pump to their tankless water heater installation. A recirculating pump will pump the hot water through the house in a loop. By doing this, the water in the pipes throughout the house will stay hot. So when you’re ready to use hot water, it will be hot right away. This results in you having instant hot water that never runs out.

Some tankless heaters come with a recirculating pump and sometimes it has to be added separately. Also, there will need to be a means of the water recirculating. This is achieved with a small fitting that goes below the farthest sink. Although, a dedicated recirculating pipe can be installed. It requires additional work that is a little more invasive but it is a better option if possible.. An electrical outlet needs to be available to plug in the recirculating pump. They typically plug into a standard 120v receptacle but can be hard-wired too.
